July 2020: Temporarily Out of Stock. Unfortunately I’m away at the moment and cannot make hearts, please enter your details to be notified when these are back in stock again.
It’s great that so many people have made their own blue hearts, but if you’re not able to then you can now buy one from us.
This large heart is approximately 22 x 22cm and 2cm thick and is perfect for larger lawns, meadows and wildflower areas. It doesn’t come with a stake or post, but has 4 holes drilled in it and is supplied with jute twine so you can tie it to your own post, or a gate, tree, fence etc. It could also easily be screwed on to something.
Made from Scottish grown larch from a local sawmill. The wood is very durable, so the hearts will last a long time out in our British weather. They are painted with a water-based and child/plant safe paint and packaged in recycled and recyclable packaging that is entirely plastic free.
These hearts are made by Al Whitworth who runs a small wooodworking business called Atlantic Drift in the Scottish Highlands. Al is passionate about rewilding and together with his wife, they manage their 8 acre croft for the benefit of wildlife and biodiversity, with wildflower meadows, woodland and wetland habitats amongst the vegetable and fruit growing for themselves, and trees for timber. You can read more at the Atlantic Drift website.
After Al’s basic manufacturing costs, all profits from the sale of these hearts goes to help fund the BLUE Campaign, helping to pay for website costs, travel expenses etc so we can get the campaign out to more people. We really appreciate your support!
Please note that wooden hearts are made to order so please allow 10 days for delivery.
Postage and packaging is £3.50 per order to the UK, no matter how many you buy. Please get in touch for orders outside the UK.
CUSTOMISATION / ENGRAVING
We are able to customise these hearts with engraved text for an extra £1.50. The engraving will read “BLUE Campaign”. If you’d like to discuss custom engraving then please get in touch. We are happy to work with community projects and can engrave your logo or text onto the hearts instead.
Also, if you’d prefer to not have the holes for tying it on, just let us know in the order notes when you check out.
